Rodeo Boogers

The morning after attending the annual Deseret Rodeo (been going strong for 60 years, this could be my 35th time going) I wiped some snot off of Justin's cheek. Audrey and her cousin Seth were sitting at the breakfast table watching.

Seth: "Hmm. Rodeo Boogers. I already had some of those too."

Audrey: "Yeah, me too. They're black and dirty."

Makes sense to me. Kind of like smoke boogers after sitting around a campfire for awhile I guess.

Halfway

Our lives are pretty much routine during the school year so I don't have much to blog about. Not to mention I have zero energy lately and I don't know if that's because I can only stomach Flinstone vitamins instead of the prescribed pre-natal. Or it could possibly be that pregnancy with #5 at the age of 35 is slightly different than being pregnant with #1 at age 22. Or even #4 at age 32.

Anyway, here is what almost 21 weeks with #5 (halfway - whoop whoop!) looks like.

(Sadie, the photographer, is a head cutter-offer)

This is right after dinner mind you, but I think I'm going to be enormous by July. It doesn't help that I put on a few pounds before I got pregnant. Somehow I almost always manage to do that. I don't know why. As if the 40 pounds I usually gain won't be enough to sustain me through the nine months.

Ah well, it's all for the baby, right? I have always gotten back into shape before. Hopefully I will have the same motivation this time around.
For now I will just enjoy my chips and salsa, thank you very much.

EVERYONE asks what we are going to name the baby. Well, once you've used up your four favorites, it's kinda hard to choose one. And since we don't find out the sex of our babies ahead of time we have to go in armed with at least one of each. The c-section is tentatively scheduled for July 16th, but that was just the doctor looking at his iPod calendar and saying that could be a good day to do it. I have an ultrasound this week that will probably give a better idea of when to deliver to ensure I don't go into labor first. So that gives us about 19 weeks to come up with some names.

Justin is prepping to be a big brother. He's really taken to caring for one of Audrey's baby dolls lately. He likes to wrap her up in a blanket and sing her the songs I sing to him. It's so cute.
And lucky for him he is so cute because this is what he can accomplish in about 3 and 1/2 minutes lately.

He has noooooo interest in potty-training. I bought him some Buzz Lightyear undies and he cried and pulled on them as if they were giving him a wedgie until I took them off. Then I whispered in his ear that his big brother was training at 18 months.

Sadie is the golden child for February. Her basketball team placed first in the league. We've never had a kid on a winning team so that was exciting. She placed third in the school Spelling Bee, where all the 5th graders were beat out by two 4th graders who battled it out for over an hour until they ran out of words because they couldn't spell any of them. She was invited to join the Principal's Book Club. And she finally cashed in on her lunch date with the principal for scoring a 6 on the FCAT last year. Since you don't go to lunch with the principal every day, I asked her what they talked about. "Just stuff....Mom, they had some really awesome soap in the bathroom at the restaurant! It smelled so good I kept washing my hands!"

And being the good mom that I am, in order to keep her humble I had to take several pictures of her when she got stuck behind the washer and dryer for a good 15 minutes before she figured out how to get out.

Tomorrow Jackson and Sadie start the FCAT testing. I'm going to get up early and make them something for breakfast besides a piece of toast as they run out the door.
