Okay, April 1st is coming up fast. This is important because this is my day.
I am the QUEEN of April Fools Pranks around these parts. (Well, our house anyway)
I have done all the old standby tricks and used a lot of ideas from Family Fun Magazine (the best magazine out there) and website.
I'm really trying to come up with some good ones for this year. The kids will be on Spring Break so I will have an entire day to fool them.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Some of my past pranks include:
* Stuck Quarter - I got my kids and several neighborhood kids on this oldie but goodie by super gluing it to the sidewalk.
* Ran Out Of Gas - This one came late on the evening of April 1st. After a full day of pranks, the kids were not falling for it. Steve did a great job though of tapping the gas pedal off and on to make it totally realistic.
* Water Sprayer - I rubber banded the handle on the water sprayer on our kitchen sink and pointed it so that when the kids turned on the sink it would spray them in the face. I got Steve on this one several times and since he is tall it hits him in just the perfect spot. :)
* No More Summer - We got a letter from the principal (me) that stated there would be no more summer vacation. Maybe my kids are just gullible but they fell for it and threw full blown tantrums.
* Bedroom Switch - After the kids were asleep we moved them to each other's bedrooms. This one backfired on us because all of them woke up in the middle of the night freaking out.
Some of my proudest moments are:
* Red Toenails - I painted Jackson's toenails bright red after he fell asleep. He got up to get ready for a soccer game and ran into our bedroom with clenched teeth and fists and said, "YOU ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!" He worked furiously to get it off and you know how hard it is to get red toenail polish off.
That one still makes me smile. :)
* Chore Chart - I made a "new" chore chart for the kids. Some of their jobs were cutting the lawn with fingernail clippers every Saturday, trimming Steve's nose hairs and reading 100 books to Audrey every night before bed.
Sadie said, (with clenched teeth and fists) "I'M NOT DOING ANY OF THAT!"
* No More Money - We got a "letter" from the government that said kids under the age of 12 can't get allowance anymore. On top of that, we can't have any money in the house just lying around. This included Jackson's and Sadie's beloved coin collections. Jackson ran and threw himself on the couch and screamed, "I HATE THE GOVERNMENT!!"
* Ice-Cream Sundae - My all-time favorite. I told the kids we were having ice-cream sundaes after dinner so they were really excited. Jackson was practically drooling when I handed him a bowl of "ice-cream" covered in caramel, fudge and whipped cream. He took a giant bite before he discovered the "ice-cream" was actually mayonnaise! The look on his face was unforgettable. This was a difficult trick to pull off since I despise mayo and gag at the mere sight of it. But it was sooo worth it. :)
Then there was the time Steve thought he won a new car thanks to a phone call from a brother-in-law of a brother-in-law. HAHAHAHOHOHOHEHEHEHE! I had to cut the joke short because I felt so bad about how excited he was getting. :)
I could go on and on...
We'll just have to see what we can come up with this year....I can't wait!

I never knew you were such an avid April fooler! My Mom used to really get into it, too. She made a cake with a cotton ball layer along with numerous other desserts with unauthorized ingredients. I fall for everything! It was fun to read your list of pranks!
Hey! Love your prank list. I am just waiting for my kiddos to get old enough to start doing it. I was trying to think back to Raintree, but I don't remember any pranks then....do you? The only thing I remember is learning that pennies work well in keeping your roommate from snoring... :)
You are hilarious- I had no idea about your love for April fools day. I've got a doozey for Guapo this year. (I'll fill you in because he won't look at your blog unless I tell him to) Ok, I obsese over whether or not we are "DONE". It drives him crazy. So, I have a postive pregnancy test from Pedro (I know, that's gross, but I just don't have the heart to throw it out). I'm going to act strange and then leave it somewhere where he'll see it. He will have a HEART ATTACK. I can't wait. I'll post about it when it's all said and done. :)
